I was around 7 or 8 years old when my father gave me my first box of pencil crayons. It was a special gift he had brought back from military service overseas. It had 12 colours in total – I loved it.

My father was an intelligence officer who was often deported overseas, returning home only once in a long while. Every time he came home, he would bring a lot of delicious chocolate. In the 60’s, how rare and precious this gift was! But in my heart, I always thought the box of pencil crayons was much more valuable than the chocolate.

At home, whenever my father picked up a pencil in his hand, he could create a wonderful piece of art. I admired that greatly. To this day, I continue to treasure that box of crayons, hoping that one day I could catch a glimpse of the heavens through painting.

Throughout high school, I often participated in poster-creation competitions, always placing well. In 1986, I graduated from National Taiwan University, specializing in Agricultural Development.  In 1996, my young family and I immigrated to Canada together, in hopes of a better environment for our two children. Since 2007, I began learning the art of oil painting under Teng-ko Weng, participating in many student exhibitions. My main form of media is oil paint, though I enjoy painting from life in watercolors, too

With a passion, I will continue to paint, allowing the brushes to sing out the vivid and beautiful colours of life.
