郭西萌 Ximeng Guo
出生於藝術世家,郭西萌自幼隨父親郭志光學習中國大寫意花鳥畫和書法。 90年代初就讀於中國中央美術學院,於2000年和2004年分別獲得中央美術學院和加拿大維多利亞大學藝術碩士學位。 她早期側重於藝術研究和藝術批評,出版藝術史類書籍包括《伊斯蘭藝術》(2003)、《美國藝術》(2003)、《星月之輝--古代兩河流域藝術》(1997)。 近些年來更加專注於藝術的實踐,創作媒介涉及油彩、丙烯、紙本水墨和綜合媒介。
西萌主要生活和創作於溫哥華。 她是加拿大藝術家協會會員、溫哥華華人藝術家協會會員,並且擔任加拿大列治文市公共藝術顧問委員會委員。
Born to an university professor and renowned artist’s family, Ximeng started her art exploration at an early age. Ximeng trained at China’s foremost art institution, Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the University of Victoria, Canada. Having played a dual role as an artist and a researcher, she admits that her academic background and knowledge in art history have fueled her art practice in all aspects.
Ximeng is an Active Member of Federation of Canadian Artists, a member of Chinese Canadian Artists Federation in Vancouver and sits on the Richmond Public Art Advisory Committee. She now lives and paints in the lower mainland, BC.
