字錦從，別名毛錐奴，江蘇省南京市人。生於1914年4月8日，畢業於武漢大學機械工程系，執教於台灣大學工學院，1975年退休。1978年定居溫哥華。自幼熱愛書法，退休後專心習字，遍臨諸家碑帖，嗜作楷書，尤工小楷，彩色字創作多種。

Professor Ling Shiao was born in Nanjing, China in 1914. He had a 25 years of teaching career in Mechanical Engineering major in Taiwan University, and retired in 1975. He immigrated to Canada and settled in Vancouver in 1978. He has been practicing Chinese Calligraphy since his childhood, and has won several calligraphy exhibition awards in China.

During the years in Vancouver, he combined his education and Chinese Calligraphy background, transforming them into different colors and shapes, and created a completely new horizon of a unique colored calligraphy visual art forms that are greatly appreciated by the viewers & art collectors.
